Plastering and skimming
You never notice a flat wall — you only notice one that isn't. Light raking in from a window or a wall lamp reveals every ripple. Plastering and skimming create the even surface that paint, wallpaper or decorative plaster need to look right.
We are based in Zurich, work regularly in the city and the surrounding region, and are available for renovation projects across Switzerland.

How it works
1. Check the surface
We tap the surface, look for hollow areas and agree the finish level with you.
2. Quote
In writing, stating the finish level, the areas and the time needed including drying.
3. Protection and prep
Dust screens, covering, removal of loose layers, priming.
4. Skimming in layers
Several coats with drying in between — cutting that short causes cracks.
5. Sanding and check
Sanding with extraction, then a raking-light check before the surface is released.
How we work
- We respect drying times even when it costs an extra day.
- The finish level is agreed before we start, not argued about afterwards.
- Sanding dust is extracted and the site cleaned daily.
- If plastering isn't the right answer, we say so and suggest the better route.
Frequently asked
- What is the difference between skimming and plastering?
- Plastering applies a thicker layer and evens out larger deviations. Skimming is the thin finishing layer that actually makes a surface smooth. Many projects need both.
- How dusty does it get?
- Sanding creates dust; that can't be avoided entirely. We use extraction and dust screens so adjoining rooms stay usable.
- Can it be painted straight away?
- Only after full drying and priming. Depending on thickness and room conditions that is one to several days.
- Can you patch single areas only?
- Yes. For smaller damage a targeted repair is often the better option — see wall repair.
