Decorative plaster — surfaces with depth
Decorative plaster isn't paint, it's a surface: it has texture, reacts to light and changes through the day. That is exactly why it is demanding craft — the result is made by the hand that applies it.
We always lay a sample area in the actual room before starting. A swatch in a showroom says very little about how a wall will look in your home.
We are based in Zurich, work regularly in the city and the surrounding region, and are available for renovation projects across Switzerland.

How it works
1. Advice in the room
We look at the light, the use of the room and the existing materials and narrow down the technique.
2. Sample area
A sample on site, judged in both daylight and artificial light, before anything is decided.
3. Quote
In writing, with technique, area, number of layers and time needed.
4. Substrate
Skim, sand and prime — without a flat base there is no clean result.
5. Application and finish
Layers applied by hand, compacted and then polished or protected depending on the technique.
How we work
- No application without an approved sample area in the room.
- Decorative plaster is handmade: slight variation is part of its character and is discussed up front.
- We advise against it when a surface takes heavy wear and another solution is more practical.
- Adjoining surfaces are protected and edges are cut cleanly.
Frequently asked
- How much maintenance does it need?
- Day to day, dry dusting is enough. For exposed areas there are protective treatments that allow damp cleaning — we discuss that per room.
- Can it be used in a bathroom?
- With the right technique and protection, yes, including splash zones by arrangement. Inside a shower it needs an execution specifically suited to that.
- Can decorative plaster be painted over later?
- Technically usually yes, but the texture and depth are lost in the process.
- Why does it cost more than paint?
- The effort sits in the substrate preparation and the several hand-applied layers. We only give fixed prices after a site visit.

Plastering & skimming
You never notice a flat wall — you only notice one that isn't. Light raking in from a window or a wall lamp reveals every ripple. Plastering and skimming create the even surface that paint, wallpaper or decorative plaster need to look right.
Painting
A coat of paint only lasts as long as the surface beneath it. Every painting job starts with checking the wall: is the old paint sound, are there cracks, nicotine, water marks or old distemper? Only then do we decide on the paint system and the number of coats.
Interior renovation
An interior renovation is several trades interlocking: repair first, then plaster, prime and paint — all in the right order, with the drying times each step needs. We take on that coordination so you don't have to mediate between several contractors.
